1.Call to Order
The City Council requests that attendees turn off cell phones and pagers during the meeting. A
copy of the full City C ounc il packet is available to the public . The packet ring binder is loc ated at
the entrance of the council chambers.
a.Statement
Mayor reads the following statement:
City Council Closed Session for the purpose of having an attorney-client
privileged discussion with the City's attorneys pursuant to Minnesota S tatutes,
section 13D.05, subdivision 3(b) regarding Wright Family vs. City of B roolyn
Center settlement discussion.
2.Roll Call
a.Statement
Read the following statement:
T he City Council needs to hold a closed session with litigation counsel
retained by the City to discuss the Wright Family vs. The City of Brooklyn
Center settlement. The discussion will relate solely to the Wright Family vs.
T he City of B rooklyn Center settlement. The City has a need to engage in a
privileged discussion to obtain confidential legal advice, evaluate the claim,
and discuss potential litigation strategy in order to protect the interests of the
City and its taxpayers. The need for absolute confidentiality in seeking and
receiving legal advice in this matter outweighs the public’s right to observe City
Council discussions of its business. Minnesota Statutes, section 13D.05,
subd. 3(b), authorizes this discussion to be held in closed session to obtain
confidential legal advice.
T herefore, I make a motion to go into closed session pursuant to Minnesota
Statutes, section 13D.05, subdivision 3(b) for an attorney-client privileged
discussion with the City’s attorneys regarding the Wright Family vs City of
Brooklyn Center.
Obtain a second and Vote.

While in closed session:
T he conversation during the meeting must remain focused on the litigation. No
other topics may be discussed during the closed session.
Minutes should not be kept of the discussion in closed session, and the meeting
must not be recorded.
T here must not be any members of the public in the room.
