HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-101 CCRMember Jerzak introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2023-101 RESOLUTION DECLARING NOVEMBER 25, 2023 AS SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY IN THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER WHEREAS, Hennepin County and Brooklyn Center celebrates our local small businesses and the contributions they make to the local economy and community; according to the United States Census, there are more than 38,000 small businesses with fewer than 100 employees in Hennepin County, representing over 96 percent of businesses in the county; and WHEREAS, the Small Business Administration as well as advocacy groups and other public and private organizations across the country have endorsed the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday; and WHEREAS, Hennepin County has partnered with Brooklyn Center, several cities in the county and the Hennepin County Housing and Redevelopment Authority to support Small Business Saturday with the multijurisdictional Love Local campaign which encourages residents to support local, independently owned businesses that create jobs, boost the local economy, and make our communities vibrant and livable; and WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities including their planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance are vitally dependent upon the efforts and skill of Public Works personnel. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, does hereby proclaim November 25, 2023, Small Business Saturday and urges those who live and work in our communities to support small businesses and merchants on Small , usiness Saturday and throughout the year.
