West of lawn Park met on June S, 1970, at Sylvia Winkelman's
residence.
The nine people present were: John Koester, Lowell
Hammner# Travis Brown, Carl Bloedel, Mrs. Charles Hensel,
Mrs. Kent Hampton, Mrs. Wm. Langsdorf and Mrs. John Winkelman.
Mr. Dick Myshak, from the Science Center,, sat in on the
meeting.
Mr. Bloedel was elected Chairman for the Steering
Committee and Mrs. Hampton agreed to serve as Secretary.
A motion was made and seconded to ask the Park Board
for use of the 7 acres. Mrs. Langsdorf made another motion
that we have an aerial photograph done of the park and surrounding
area in question. This was seconded and carried. Mr. John
Koester agreed to check on filming the area in black and
white and infrared in the summer and the fall. The different
type of films would help in developing a map of the area
later on.
The proposals already approved by the Steering Committee
once, will be re-written in more detail by B. E, Peterson,
staff assistant, and put before the Council after we (the
Steering Committee) give it our go ahead. when this is
passed by the Council: we will immediately begin work in the
area.
Our meetings will be held on Monday night once a month
and if, at any time, a quorum can not be formed (five people
including the Chairman), the meeting will be cancelled.
orchard Lane and Fair Oaks Schools, as well as private
homes, will be used as meeting places in the future.

The uses of the Eagle Scouts were discussed in this project
Also, we hope Dick Myshak will continue to give us
advice about the area.
