HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971 10-14 CONCMMinutes of the Proceedings of the Conservation Commission of the City of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota October 14, 1971 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mossberg at 6:30 PM. The clerk was asked to note that it was a special meeting held prior to a vistation to the Golden Valley Environmental Commission. Roll Call: Chairman Mossberg, Commissioners Winkelman, Snater, Almen, Price and Gross. Also present was Administrative Assistant Blair Tremere. There was a brief discussion relative to the use of re-cycled paper, particularly with regard to the possible use by the City Officer,. It was the consensus of the Commission that the staff should investigate the possibility of the City ordering and using re--cycled paper for its stationary and other paper uses. A lengthy discussion ensued concerning the establishment of a re-cyclable materials pick-up point in the City. Chairman Mossberg and Commissioner Winkelman said that based on the experience • of other groups which have conducted drives, the major items and so vices needed were trucks to haul the collected materials as well as volunteers to man the pick-up points and drive the trucks to re-cycling centers. Commissioner Almen was asked to described the activities of the youth group, P.P.P., of which he is a member, and which conducts regular glass and metal drives in Robbinsdale. After further discussion concerning the establisIament of'a regular pick-u,? point within the City of Brooklyn Center, Commissioner Almen was asked to investigate the possibility of obtaining trucks to haul re-cyclable materials. Chairman Mossberg noted that the Golden Valley Environmental Commission had requested the Brooklyn Center commission to attend its meeting later in the evening for purposes of determining the structureF and policies which gomezn the activities of the Brooklyn Center Commission. Motion by Commissioner Snater and seconded by commissioner Price to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously. The Conservation Commission adjourned at 7:30 P.M. 0 Chairman
