HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971 06-23 CONCME Minutes of the Proceedings of the • Conservation Commission in the City of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota June 23, 1971 The Conservation commission meeting was held at Commissioner Price's residence and was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Chairman Audre Mossberg. Roll Call: Chairman Audre Mossberg, Commissioners Price, Dorff and Almen. Commissioner Almen reported on the results of the P. P. P. (Part of the Polluted Populace) Drive: 20 tons of paper 5 tons of glass 4 tons of cans Ccpper wire The next Drive is scheduled for July 14, 1971. • Commissioner Almen also showed the Comatissioners the Sechhi Disc which measures turbidity - black and white areas. Scandia 20 feet Lower Twin 3 feet Middle Twin 14 feet Northern Third Twin 1 foot Crystal 1 foot Mr. Homme, Dave Ryden and Comxaissi.oner Almen plan to study and measure lakes during the summer. Commissioner Price reported on his visit to Crystal Environ- mental Commission on June 3rd. Eagle Lake Home Owner's Association wanted support for a moratorium on dredging Eagle Lake. Mrs. Richard Paddock told of Pem Tom's plan to build a large multiple dwelling complex. Commissioner Price also reported on the discussion at the Crystal Environmental Commission of power boats on Twin Lake and their desire to ask the Commissioner of Natural R,~sources to call ® a hearing. The Brooklyn Center Commission agreed to study the matter further and make recommendations at a later date. -2- 0 Commissioner Dorff represented the Brooklyn Center Conservation Commission at the Brooklyn Park Planning Commission meeting when the Durnam island project was consider-d. The Brooklyn Park Planning Commission opposed this project. it now needs support of the county or state. Commissioner Price moved and Commissioner Almen seconded the motion to adjourn. The motion carried unanimously. 'The meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M, • 0
