HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-088 CCRMember Kay Lasman introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 99-88 RESOLUTION CERTIFYING SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 1999-14, STREET IMPROVEMENTS, EARLE BROWN DRIVE, TO THE HENNEPIN COUNTY TAX ROLLS WHEREAS, pursuant to proper notice duly given as required by law, the City Council has met and heard and passed upon all objections to the proposed Special Assessment Levy No. 14571; and WHEREAS, assessment rolls, copies of which are attached hereto and part hereof by reference, have been prepared by the City Clerk, tabulating those properties where street improvement costs are to be assessed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that: 1. Such proposed assessments, Special Assessment Levy No. 14571, made a part hereof, are hereby accepted and shall constitute the special assessments against the lands named therein, and each tract of land therein included is hereby found to be benefitted by the improvement in the amount of the assessments levied against it. 2. Such assessments.shall be payable in equal annual installments extending over a period of ten (10) years as indicated on the assessment roll. The first of the installments to be payable with ad valorem taxes in 2000, and shall bear interest at the rate of six (6.0) percent per annum on the entire assessment from July 1, 1999 through December 31, 2000. 3. The owner of any property so assessed may at any time prior to the certificate of the assessment to the County Auditor pay the whole of the assessment, with interest accrued to the date of payment, to the City Treasurer, except that no interest shall be charged if the entire assessment is paid within 30 days from the adoption of this resolution; and he or she may, at any time thereafter, pay to the City Treasurer the entire amount of the assessment remaining unpaid, with interest accrued to December 31 of the year in which such payment is made. Such payment must be made before November 15, or interest shall be charged through December 31 of the succeeding year. RESOLUTION NO. 99-$$ 4. The City Clerk shall forthwith transmit a certified duplicate of this assessment to the County Auditor to be extended on the proper tax lists of the county, and such assessments shall be collected and paid over in the same manner as other municipal taxes.
