its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 99-111
RESOLUTION URGING CONTINUED FUNDING OF COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM
WHEREAS, many cities have benefited from the CDBG Program; and
WHEREAS, as the City of Brooklyn Center has used CDBG Funds for a number
of purposes over the years; and
WHEREAS, those purposes have included assisting elderly homeowners with home
maintenance, low income persons with housing repairs and life safety issues, and acquisition of
blighted housing with the creation of new housing in its place; and
WHEREAS, cities continue to face many pressures due to reduced funding from
both Federal and State sources.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center that it hereby urges the Minnesota members of the House and Senate Delegations
to support continued funding of CDBG Funds to allow for the many worthwhile programs that are
undertaken by cities that would have to be discontinued without this Federal local partnership.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Ed Nelson
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Myrna Kragness, Debra Hilstrom, Kay lasman, Ed Nelson, and Robert Peppe;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
