HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-142 CCRMember Debra Hilstrom introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 99-142 RESOLUTION DIRECTING NSP TO UNDERGROUND OVERHEAD UTILITIES ON BROOKLYN BOULEVARD, 65TH AVENUE TO NORTH CITY LIMITS, AND CR 10, TH 100 TO BROOKLYN BOULEVARD WHEREAS, in 2000 and 2001, roadway and enhancement improvements on Brooklyn Boulevard from 65th Avenue to the North City Limits, widening Brooklyn Boulevard to provide for improved traffic safety; and WHEREAS, the roadway improvement project requires that NSP relocate its overhead facilities; and WHEREAS, to improve public safety a below ground utility corridor in the boulevard and sidewalk/trail area of the east side of the roadway has been established; and WHEREAS, on CR 10 between TH 100 and Brooklyn Boulevard there exists a number of overhead lines servicing street lights and signals; and WHEREAS, redevelopment of the Brookdale Shopping Center is expected to increase the volume of traffic on CR 10; and WHEREAS, to improve public safety these overhead services should be relocated underground. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that: 1. NSP is hereby requested and directed to relocate its overhead facilities on Brooklyn Boulevard from 65th Avenue to the North City Limits to the new below ground utility corridor. 2. NSP is hereby requested and directed to relocate overhead facilities on CR 10 from TH 100 to Brooklyn Boulevard underground. 3. The City does not agree to pay the project costs up front, but desires that NSP recover its costs through a rate surcharge. 1 Resolution No. 99-142 September 13, 1999 Date ATTEST: JWSK City Clerk ~~1► L~- Ma Yor The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Kay Lasman and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Myrna Kragness, Debra Hilstrom, Kay Lasman, Ed Nelson, and Robert Peppe; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
