HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-213 CCRMember Kathleen Carmody introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. AR-913- RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT THE CITY DOES NOT WAIVE THE STATUTORY LIMIT ON MUNICIPAL TORT LIABILITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF RENEWING INSUR ANCF. POLICIES FOR THE 1999 YEAR WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and the City's Insurance Agent are negotiating annual renewal premiums for the City's comprehensive insurance coverage for the period from January 1, 1999 to January 1, 2000; and WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota has set the statutory limit on tort liability at $750,000 for Minnesota cities and requires city councils to make a decision to stay with or to waive this limit; and WHEREAS, the Director of Finance does not recommend waiving the statutory limit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the City does not waive the monetary limits on municipal tort liability established by Minnesota Statutes 466.04. 12/14/98 Date .1~(IIYSI~LY~tn . ATTEST: City Clerk n Mayor The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Kay Lasman and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Debra Hilstrom, Kay Lasman, and Robert Peppe; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
