RESOLUTION NO. 99-42
RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR CITY INSURANCE POLICIES
AND THE INSLTRA ACE AUNT FOR 1999
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and the City's Insurance Agent have
negotiated annual renewal premiums for the City's comprehensive insurance coverage for the
period from January 1, 1999 to January 1, 2000 and they are as follows:
1. Comprehensive Municipal Property and Casualty Insurance from the League of
Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (L.M.C.I.T.):

WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes provide that elected officials are considered
employees for workers compensation purposes only if the city has passed an ordinance or
resolution to that effect; and
RESOLUTION NO. 99-42
WHEREAS, the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust requires cities to use
the services of an agent in order to participate in the L.M.C.I.T. property/casualty program; and
WHEREAS, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Of Minnesota, Inc. has been the City's
insurance agent since January 1, 1990 on a fee-for-services basis, has provided good agent services
to the City of Brooklyn Center, and wishes to extend the agreement for services or another year;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center to:
1. Accept the negotiated insurance renewals and award the contracts as stated.
2. Declare pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 176.011, subd. 9, clause 6, that the Mayor
and Council Members are considered to be employees for worker's compensation
insurance purposes.
3. Designate the Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. of Minnesota, Inc. agency as the agent
of record for said insurance.
4. Renew the fee-for-services contract as City insurance agent with Arthur J.
Gallagher & Co. of Minnesota, Inc. for the period of January 1, 1999 through
December 31, 1999 at an annual fee of $9,500.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Ed Nelson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof:
Myrna Kragness, Debra Hilstrom, Kay Lasman, Ed Nelson, and Robert -Peppe;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
