HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-124 CCRMember Graves introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2023-124 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING 2024 RECYCLING RATES AND CHARGES WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center is a member of the Hennepin Recycling Group (HRG), which is a joint powers group organized pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 471.59 (1987); and WHEREAS, the puipose of the joint powers agreement is to create an organization by which member cities may jointly and cooperatively provide for the efficient and economical collection, recycling and disposal of solid waste within and without their respective corporate boundaries in compliance with the Minnesota Waste Management Act, Minnesota Statutes Chapter I I5A (1987); and WHEREAS, the HRG has established a curbside recycling program for its member cities to meet the requirements of Hennepin County Ordinance No. 13, Solid Waste Source Separation for Hennepin County; and WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center must establish rates to fund the City's curbside recycling program and the cost for projected reimbursement of recycling charges from the HRG along with other program operating charges; and charges; and WHEREAS, the recycling program includes a bi-annual curbside cleanup; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed data providedon delinquent utility WHEREAS, Brooklyn Center Ordinance No. 89-11 authorizes the City to establish rates for recycling services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the recycling charges shall be as follows for all billings issued on or after January 1, 2024: 2024 RECYCLING UTILITY RATE SCHEDULE Recycling Rates and Charges Minimum Charge per Household per quarter: $15.42 per quarter Charges Delinquent account, quarterly charge No Additional Charge Certification for collection with property taxes $50.00 (Utility accounts with an outstanding balance owed of $400.00 or greater) December 11 2023 Date ATTEST: City Clerk n,,,jJ,,_j -1 Mayor The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Butler and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Butler, Graves, Kragness, Lawrence -Anderson and the following voted against the same: Jerzak whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
