RESOLUTION NO. 2009-65
RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION OF
ROBERT A. O'KONEK FOR OVER 18 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO
THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER
i
WHEREAS, Bob O'Konek joined the Brooklyn Center Public Works Department as
a member of tl & Utility Division on the twenty-fourth day of September, 1990, and served until he
passed away on April 3, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Bob provided years of dedicated service to the City of Brooklyn
Center, including serving on-call duty and responding to numerous emergency issues during nights
and weekends; and
vVHEREAS, Bob spent eleven consecutive years coordinating utility operations
issues as part of the City's Neighborhood Reconstruction Projects while consistently demonstrating
good judgment, a high level of competency and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Bob was a role model for having a strong work ethic and dedication to
service and ea ned a high level of respect from his fellow employees as well as many contractors
both public an 3 private; and
place; WHEREAS, Bob's unique sense of humor contributed to the morale of the work
and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center wishes to recognize
the professionalism with which Bob O'Konek, a dedicated employee, father, and proud grandfather,
has discharged. his duties and made a positive impact on the community of Brooklyn Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Censer, Minnesota, upon the recommendation of the City Manager, that the dedicated
public service of Bob O'Konek is hereby recognized and appreciated by the City of Brooklyn
Center, and be it further resolved that the City of Brooklyn Center extends its condolences to Bob's
family on his r,-cent death, which is a loss to his family, many friends and coworkers, and also to the
community of Brooklyn Center. / %

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Tim Roche
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Tim Willson,! Kay Layman, Tim Roche, Dan Ryan, and Mark Yelich;
and the followil voted against the same: none;
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
