HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-174 CCRMember Kathleen Carmody introduced the following resolution and moved 1 its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 98-174 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR BID PACKAGE #1: FOOTINGS AND FOUNDATIONS FOR EARLE BROWN HERITAGE CENTER WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for footings and foundations for Earle Brown Heritage Center, bids were received, opened, and tabulated by the Community Development Director and E and V Construction Management on the 23rd day of September, 1998. Said bids were as follows: BIDDER John Henry Masonry Witcher Construction Gladstone Construction Spraungel Construction BID AMOUNT $55,000 $62,608 $82,200 $101,000 WHEREAS, the bid of John Henry Masonry did not include a bid bond as required by the instructions to bidders, and therefore is rejected. WHEREAS, it appears that Witcher Construction is the lowest responsible bidder. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that: 1. The Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Witcher Construction in the name of the City of Brooklyn Center, for footings and foundations for the Earle Brown Heritage Center Development Project according to the plans and specifications on file in the office of the Community Development Director. 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders, the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and next lower bidder shall be retained until a contract is signed. September 28, 1998 -A- q' AYA Date Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Robert Peppe and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Debra Hilstrom, and Robert Peppe; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
