HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-175 CCRMember Robert Peppe introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 98-175 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING CONCERN FOR THE PASSAGE OF THE 1999 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT APPROPRIATIONS BILL WHEREAS, each year our Congress and the President of the United States have the duty of passing a budget appropriations bill by October 1st; and WHEREAS, the passage of this bill is required for the continued normal operation of our Federal Government; and WHEREAS, uninterrupted continuation of programs such as Medicare and Social Security are vital to our senior citizens in Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, any veto of this bill could cause a negative impact on our senior citizens who are living on fixed incomes, and are dependent upon these subsidies to survive. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that Congress and the President of the United States work together to get a 1999 Appropriation Bill that will be passed by Congress and signed by the President. September 28, 1998 Date O Mayor ATTEST: y'bam City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Debra Hilstrom; and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Debra Hilstrom, and Robert Peppe; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
