HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-082 CCRMember Robert Peppe introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 98-82 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE UNDERGROUNDING OF ELECTRIC SERVICE ON CAMDEN AVENUE, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NOS. 1998-01,02,0 AND 03, BELLVUE NEIGHBORHOOD STREET, STORM DRAINAGE, AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, at several informational meetings and the public hearing to consider Improvement Project Nos. 1998-01,02,0 and 03, Bellvue Neighborhood Street, Storm Drainage, and Utility Improvements, the residents of Camden Avenue between 53rd and 55th Avenues expressed a desire to have the overhead electric mains and services buried underground; and WHEREAS, a majority of the residents of Camden Avenue between 53rd and 55th Avenues have formally petitioned the City Council for said undergrounding; and WHEREAS, NSP has estimated the cost of said undergrounding to be about $22,300 plus $520 per property for providing underground service, plus the cost to the homeowner of converting the homeowner's home to underground service; and WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available in the Special Assessment Construction Fund for the City to pay the cost providing underground service; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is of general benefit to the neighborhood to bury the overhead services at City expense. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that: 1. Staff are hereby authorized and directed to work with NSP and other private utilities to accomplish the burial underground of electric and other utility services. 2. The cost of undergrounding the electric mains (estimated at $22,300) and services (at $520 each) shall be paid for from the Special Assessment Construction Fund. May 11, 1998 Date Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Kathleen Carmody and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Debra Hilstrom, Kay Lasman, and Robert Peppe; and the following voted against the same: none whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
