its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 98-165
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS, REJECTING BIDS AND AWARDING
CONTRACTS, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 1998 -10 and 1998-11
WHEREAS, the City Council established Improvement Project 1998-10,
Demolition and Construction of new West Fire Station, and 1998-11 East Fire Station
Remodeling by Resolution 97-205,
WHEREAS, the City Council hired the Bossardt Company to perform construction
management duties on these two projects and Bossardt Company has submitted
recommendations for approval of bid package #1, a portion of the bids for both West Fire
and East Fire Station projects,
WHEREAS, the following bids were received and opened on September 2, 1998,
for bid package # 1 on Improvement Project No 1998-10 and 1998-11, and these bids have
been reviewed by Bossardt Company in its capacity as Construction Manager on these
projects, and have been recommended for approval by the City Council,
East Fire Station:
1.01 Demo/Paving/Concrete/Masonry -

West Fire Station:
1.01/1.02 - Building Demo/Earthwork: (combined)
Don Zappa & Sons Inc. $ 99,080
1.06- Cast-In-Place Concrete:

East & West Stations Combined Bids:
1.20/1.21 East - Plumbing/HVAC: (combined)
1.31/1.32 West - Plumbing/HVAC: (combined)

WHEREAS, Bossardt Company has advised the City Council that the above contractors
are the lowest responsible bidders,
WHEREAS, Bossardt Company has advised the City Council that the bids listed below
should be rejected,
East Fire Station:
1.01- Parking lot paving: $ 33,600
Reject alternate for parking lot paving at $33,600 submitted by Kellington
Construction Inc. This was an alternate and Bossardt recommends not awarding
this alternate at this time in the project. The alternate may be re-bid and
recommended for award at a later date in the project.
1.03- Paving & Curbs:
$ no valid bid
Only one bid was received and it was an invalid bid as it did not contain all portions
of the work. Bossardt Company recommends re-bidding of this work with other
portions of work remaining to be bid on the projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that:
1. The Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized to direct Bossardt
Company to proceed with development of contracts and the administration
of the contracts for the above bids in accordance with Bossardt duties as
Construction Manager on 1998-10 and 1998-11 Improvement projects.
2. The Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized to reject bids for
Alternate parking lot paving at East Fire Station and for paving and curbs
at West Fire Station.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Debra Hilstrom and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof:
Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Debra Hilstrom, Kay Lasman, and Robert
and the following voted against the same: none ; Peppe
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
