HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-068 CCRMember Katy Lasman introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 98-68 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE DESIGNATION OF BROOKLYN CENTER AS A TREE CITY USA WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center is committed to preserving and enhancing its urban forest; and WHEREAS, the National Arbor Day Foundation, upon the recommendation of the State of Minnesota forester, has designated Brooklyn Center as a Tree City USA in recognition of 1997 forestry activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that: The Council hereby recognizes and accepts the designation of Tree City USA on behalf of the residents of Brooklyn Center. 2. The Council reaffirms its commitment to urban forestry, and directs staff to, within the constraints of existing resources, continue a high level of maintenance and reforestation efforts. 3. The Council commends city staff and the residents of Brooklyn Center for their work in maintaining and enhancing Brooklyn Center's urban forest. um. Myrna Kragness, Kathleen Carmody, Debra Hilstrom, Kay Lasman, and Robert Peppe; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
