HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-195 CCRMember Debra Hilstrom introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 97-195 RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 4, 1997, SPECIAL ELECTION WHEREAS, the City Council has met for the purpose of canvassing the election returns of a special election called pursuant to Resolution No. 97-141, adopted by the City Council on August 25, 1997, for the purpose of submitting to the electors the question of authorization for the City to issue and sell its general obligation bonds in an amount no to exceed $7,900,000 to finance the acquisition and betterment of police and fire buildings. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the votes cast at said City election for the following question were as follows: SHOULD THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER BE AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE AND SELL ITS GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $7,900,000 TO FINANCE THE ACQUISITION AND BETTERMENT OF POLICE AND FIRE BUILDINGS? 3,497 YES votes 834 NO votes BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the question submitted was approved in the affirmative by more than 51 % of the qualified voters of the City voting at such election and that the said question was duly approved by said voters. November 5, 1997 Date ATTEST:L City Clerk Mayor pro tem The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Kay Lasman and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Kathleen Carmody, Debra Hilstrom, and Kay Lasman; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
