AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA
REGULAR SESSION
FEBRUARY 19, 1981

CALL TO ORDER
The Brooklyn Center Conservation Commission was called of order at 7:35 p.m.
by Barb Jensen.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Bill Price, Fred Albright, Barb Jensen and Bernie Wesloh. Also
present was Councilmember Celia Scott.
CHAIRMAN RECOMMENDATION
There.was a motion by Commissioner Price and seconded by Commissioner Wesloh
to encourage Mayor Nyquist to appoint Fred Albright as Chairman of the
Conservation Commission. The motion passed unanimously. Following the
motion, Fred Albright temporarily accepted responsibilities as the Chairman.
KALEIDOSCOPE
There was a brief discussion relative to the commission's participation in
Kaleidoscope. Commissioner Albright indicated that there would be an Energy
Wing and asked for input from the members. Commissioner Albright explained
what would be included in the Energy Wing. Commissioner Price recommended

recommended-that, car-pool information be provided. it was also stated that
car-,pooling should be coordinated with the Chamber of Commerce. It was also
recommended that oil deposit site information be made available. It was
suggested that wood heating information including fire safety information
and BTU information on the various types of wood be provided. Comm issioner
Price suggested a heat loss chart be made available at Kaleidoscope differ-
entiating between temperatures of interiors. It was agreed that Commissioner
Wesloh and Commissioner Jensen would obtain information on wood burning.
Commissioner Price would obtain information on heat differential information
and Councilmember Scott and Commissioner Albright would get a Commission
information sheet from Administrative Assistant Hoffman.
Jay Jacobson was then introduced to the Commission and asked to share his
background and his interest in the Commission. Following a brief discussion,
Jay Jacobson indicated that he would provide thermostatic set back information
at the March Conservation Commission meeting.
FUTURE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Commissioner Albright asked each of the members to develop two or three
goal wish lists to be brought to the March meeting. He indicated that he
wanted concrete ideas on the Conservation Commission's involvment for the
next year. Commissioner Wesloh asked that there be a better communication
network between staff, Council and Commission and asked for information
especially concerning tree planting and reforestation program.

ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Commissioner Jensen and seconded by Commissioner Wesloh 40
to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously and the meeting was
adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
