HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980 12-18 CONCMMINUTES OT THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE CONSERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA REGULAR SESSION DECEMBER 18, 1980 CITY HALL CALL TO ORDER The Brooklyn Center Conservation Commission was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Chairperson Mary Ellen Vetter. ROLL CALL Chairperson Mary Ellen Vetter, Commissioners Barb Jensen, Bill Price, Bernie Wesloh, and Henry Dorff. Also present were Councilmember Celia Scott and Administrative Assistant Brad Hoffman. Commission member Fred Albright was excused. COMMISSIONER'S REPORT Both Commissioner Albright and Commissioner Lutenegger were not present, the Commissioner's Reports were postponed. SPEAKER - CHAMBER ENERGY TASK FORCE Chairperson Vetter took the opportunity to introduce Gary Hannay from the Chamber of Commerce to the Conservation Commission. Mr. Hannay indicated that he was on the energy task force for the Chamber which was headed by Carl Gross. He stated that the current emphasis of the Committee was • centered on promoting the Minnesota Rideshare program- uA stated that i^` Jai uax°v there wou:►,d he a rest ti' ; tz that wovl.d ccur to try rya; Feoply to sign up for car-pooling. He added that in February, their group would be initiating a survey required by the van-pool services prior to the initiating of any van-pool services. In March, the Chamber's general meeting will be the start of a major promotional effort by the Chamber to make people in the area aware of van-pool services. In April they plan to coordinate their program with Kaleidoscope to promote the van-pool and they also expect to assist drivers with AAA exhaust analysis. They also felt that the Chamber would play a continuing role in providing information about such services. Commissioner Dorff inquired as to who owns the vans, Mr. Hannay replied that the van-pool services was a wholly owned subsidiary of Chrysler Corporation. Chairperson Vetter inquired if the Ridesharing program was being modeled after any other program. Mr. Hannay replied that the program was fairly unique in that the matchups were done with the aid of a computer. General discussion then ensued relative to van-pooling and ridesharing. Following the discussion, Chairperson Vetter thanked Mr. Hannay for his time in informing the Commission about the efforts of the Chamber of Commerce. ADJOURNMENT There was a motion by Commissioner Dorff and seconded by Commissioner Price to adjourn the meeting.
