CLEANUP REPORT Commissioner Albright reported that he would like to see the City sponsor a project to provide refuse hauling for City residents. He noted that other cities have had similar projects, specifically, Columbia Heights, Blaine and Fridley. Commissioner Price discussed Dick Hedlund's program and stated that Dick Hedlund indicated that such a program needs to be well advertised and the pickup at a centralized location. Commissioner Albright expressed his concern with a centralized pickup versus a curbside pickup. He would like to see the two programs costed out as he is not sure how much money would be involved in both. Councilmember Scott indicated that such' a program would have to be considered by the Council and could possibly be funded from the contingency fund. Commissioner Price suggested that the job be offered to several companies in order to do the job faster. Councilmember Scott indicated that some cities use city vehicles with volunteer workers, such as the scouts and so forth. Commissioner Dorff inquired if City drivers would be required for the trucks. Councilmember Scott indicated they would and they would be paid time and one-half. Following a brief discussion there was a consensus that such a cleanup should be held in the spring of the year. Commissioner Albright indicated that he would contact Blaine, Columbia Heights and Fridley to see how they ran their programs. Following a brief discussion, Commissioner Dorff inquired if the Commission should contact the Council relative to obtaining money for such a cleanup. Councilmember Scott recommended that a letter be sent to the City Manager to consider such a project in the budget and that the matter could be discussed at the next Council meeting. It was agreed that Commissioner Albright would address the Council with this concern at the next meeting. HOUSING SEMINAR Administrative Assistant Brad Hoffman reviewed his conversation with Chairman Vetter noting the tasks that were required to be completed for the upcoming 3-20-80 -1- housing seminar being sponsored by the Conservation Commission and the Housing Commission. The request was for a bus stop in the area of Zane and Brooklyn Boulevard. It was the consensus of the Commissioners that they needed more information.
