HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972 08-10 CONCMMinutes of the Proceedings of the Conservation Commission of the City of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota August 10, 1972 The Conservation commission met as a committee of the whole and was called to order by Chairman Vetter at 8:20 P.M. Roll Call: Chairman Vetter, Commissioners Winkelman and Snater. Also present were Administrative Assistant Daniel Hartman and Mrs. Audre Mossberg. The Secretary presented to Mrs. Mossberg a resolution of recognition passed by the City Council on July 24, 1972. Mrs. Mossberg accepted the resolution and thanked the Commission and staff for their help in making her term as Chairman successful. A lengthy report ensued relative to the re-cycling drive task group. Mrs. Mossberg stated that the Metropolitan Re-cycling Center has agreed to pick up glass collected at the re-cycling drives on a weekly basis. She also stated that it was the policy of the Re- cycling Task Group nctto require the smashing of glass in that it was an unsafe practice to continue. She then commented that the • location of the drive was to be changed from the municipal garage to the storage area at 69th and Dupont Avenues North. Mrs. Mossberg stated that the drive will be expanded to a twice a month operation on the second and fourth Saturdays. She continued by stating the Task Group was in the process of developing a flyer for the people in the area to notify them of the changes in the re-cycling drive and that the newspapers would also be used in making sure the citizens were aware of the new location of the drive. The Secretary commented that the City had provided a handout to the volunteer groups describing the procedure used by the volunteer groups at the drives. He also commented that if the Task Group was still interested in such a handout, the City would help develop one reflecting the new policies... The Conservation Commission recessed at 9:05 P.M. and resumed at 9:20 P.M. A discussion ensued relative to the review of the Comprehensive Plan. it was the consensus of the members present that certain areas of the Comprehensive Plan be divided among the members of the Conser- vation Commission for further research and recommendations. The Conservation Commissioner meeting as a committee of the whole adjourned at110:38 P.M. Chairman
