April 12, 1972
The Conservation commission met in regular session and was
called to order by Chairman Mossberg at 6:49 P.M.
Roll Call: Chairman Mossberg, Commissioners Dorff, Almen,
Snater, Vetter, and Winkelman. Also present was Administrative
Assistant Dan Hartman.
Motion by Commissioner Snater and seconded by Commissioner
Vetter to approve the minutes of the March 23, 1972, meeting.
The motion passed unanimously.
Chairman Mossberg announced that an Environmental Rap Session
will be held at the Environmental Library in Minneapolis. She
also announced that there will be a Water Pollution Seminar,
Spring Quarter, at the University of Minnesota.
It was brought to the Commission's attention that there would
be an open House for the Environmental Conservation Library of
Minnesota at the Minneapolis Public Library.
Chairman Niossbarg then announced that May 29 through June 3,
1972, would be Creek Week in the metropolitan area. She stated
that Creek Week was being sponsored by the Metropolitan Creek
Association.
Commissioner Almen stated that the rec-cycling drive held in
April was successful.
Commissioner Snater then stated that the first Nature Hike
would be held May 7, 1972, at orchard Lane School. She also stated
that the hike would be through the MAC-Kylawn Environmental
Preserve.
The next item of business was a request for a speaker or
booth presentation-at St. Alphonsus School. Chairman Mossberg
stated that the topic of the afternoon would be summer voluntary
activities for youth in Brooklyn Center. A discussion ensued
relative to such a presentation and it was the consensus of the
Commission to present maps showing the areas in Brooklyn Center
that are in need of some type of conservation work. Commissioner
Almen, Winkelman and Vetter then volunteered to help in the
formulation of such a presentation.

Chairman Mossberg then called a special meeting of the
Commission to be held April 19, 1972, at 7:30 P.M. in the
Brooklyn Center City Hall. She stated that the meeting was being
called for reviewing the proposed MAC-Kylawn Lrvironmental
Preserve Improvement Program for 1972.
Motion by Commissioner Vetter, seconded by Commissioner
norff to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously. The
Brooklyn Center Conservation Commission adjourned at 7:35 P.M.
