Commissioners Mead and Theis were absent and excused. APPROVAL OF Minutes - April 27, 1999 There was a motion by Commissioner Ebert, seconded by Commissioner Russell to approve the April 27, 1999 meeting minutes of the Parks and Recreation Commission as presented. The motion passed unanimously. CIVIC CENTER BUILDING IMPROVEMENT ISSUES After considerable discussion, the consensus, of the members in attendance, is they do not favor either the "fix option" or the "new building" plan as presented at our last meeting. Commissioner Peterson is in favor of demolishing the whole complex and rebuilding now. The other members in attendance, favor doing the absolute minimum now with a long term (five to ten-year) plan to replace the whole complex. This assumes that much of the one plus million dollars of ADA improvements in the "fix option" are not required by law when remodeling existing buildings. If the one million plus dollars in the "fix option" are indeed required, then the rest of the members agree with Commissioner Peterson, demolish the whole complex and replace it now. The Commission requests that the City Council ask for a legal opinion on how many of the ADA improvements in the "fix option" (the plan without the new center building) are absolutely required in the remodeling / repair "fix option" estimates. PALMER LAKE BASIN STUDY Chair Sorenson noted that a public meeting was set for May 25, at 7:00 p.m. at Palmer Lake Elementary School to disseminate the study information to citizens.
