HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997 06-17 PRMMINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA REGULAR SESSION JUNE 17, 1997 CITY HALL CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Sorenson called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. ROLL CALL Chair Sorenson, Commissioners Russell, Peterson, Mead, Theis and Ebert were present. Commissioner Shinnick was absent and excused. Also, in attendance was Acting Recreation Director Jim Glasoe APPROVAL OF MINUTES -May 20, 1997 There was a motion by Commissioner Russell, seconded by Commissioner Ebert to approve the May 20, 1997 minutes of the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. The motion passed. PARKS CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN Acting Director Glasoe indicated that he, Public Services Director Diane Spector, Public Works Superintendent Dave Peterson and Streets and Parks Supervisor John Harlow were in the process of touring each of the parks to compile a list of capital improvement needs. He added the list, along with a long range plan would be available for discussion at the September meeting. Chair Sorenson indicated that he would like to see any long range plan include completion of the remaining playground replacements. All Commissioners agreed that playground equipment replacement should remain a priority. After considerable discussion, it was the Commission's consensus to wait and review the draft "Capital Improvement" plan in September. SET MEETING DATE A motion was made by Commissioner Peterson to not hold Commission meetings in July and August. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mead and unanimously approved. The next meeting was set for September 16, 1997, at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room A of City Hall. MEETING ADJOURNED Commissioner Russell made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Ebert to adjourn the meeting at 8:44 p.m. The motion passed.
