HENNEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA REGULAR SESSION APRIL 18, 1995 CITY HALL CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Sorenson called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. ROLL CALL Chairperson Sorenson, Commissioners Peterson, Lasman, Mead, Shinnick, and Schendel were present. Commissioner Russell was absent. Also in attendance were Council Liaison, Kristen Mann, and Public Services Coordinator, Jim Glasoe. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - March 21, 1995 There was a motion by Commissioner Peterson, seconded by Commissioner Mead to approve the minutes. The motion passed. COUNCIL LIAISON REPORT Council Liaison Mann reported that Council has placed a- moratorium on adult establishments in the city. She also indicated that the City Council approved street improvements in the • Woodbine Neighborhood and on Humboldt Avenue, and approved the sale of the property at 5304 Bryant to Habitat for Humanity, along with minor building revisions, as a part of the interim remodeling of City Hall. Lastly, she reported that a P.R. firm-had been selected for the image campaign, and shared a list of potential question areas for the upcoming community survey as part of the potential bond referendum. ADOPT-A-PARK SCHEDULE Commissioner Mead shared the information he had received as contact person for the Commission's adopted parks. He indicated that a "Kick-off" breakfast was scheduled for April 22, from 8:30 -9:30 a.m in Constitution Hall. All individuals and/or groups involved in the program are invited. Commissioners able to help with the clean up will meet in Constitution Hall at 9:15 a.m.. BOND REFERENDUM CITIZENS COMMITTEE APPOINTMENT Chair Sorenson stated that Council is asking each Commission to provide a liaison for this committee. He asked if any of the Commissioners were interested. Commissioner Peterson indicated that he would serve on the committee. The Commission unanimously approved his appointment. PARK WATCH-DISCUSSION Chair Sorenson reviewed the brief discussion of the park watch activities at the January meeting. He clarified that the park watch meeting was held only at the Lions Park, as it had been identified as having the most number of problems. After some discussion, the Commission directed Public Services Coordinator Glasoe to bring park related police/damage reports for the last two years to the May meeting. OTHER BUSINESS Chair Sorenson passed around two items calling for nominations for outstanding citizens. He requested that commissioners contact him with any nominees. SET MEETING DATE The nest meeting will be May 16, 1995, 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room A of City Hall. MEETING ADJOURNED Commissioner Schinnick made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Peterson to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 p.m. The motion passed. 0 0
