`t'he Park and. Recreation commission mea in regular session and was
called :o order by Chairman Don Reiehel at 7:30 P. M.
Members present were Don Reichel, Henrietta Anderson, and Ruth
Lint?: Also present were Gene Hagel and Arnie Mavis..
;Zhe minutes of the previous meeting of December 15, 1)71, were
approves' as recorded.
Commissioner Lind introduced the subject of remaining bond monies,
including -that which was designated for t:,e construction of a
covered ice shelter. A discussion ensued regarding the use of
such funds. 'The Director was requested to obtain information as
to -the balance remaining and so inform -the Commission.
Members of the Commission next reported on progress of ad hoc com-
mi-etee organization. Members obcainef for -the Northport Committee
are Mr. Richard Risley, 3624 Admiral Lane; Mr. Gene Paterson,
521 'wing, and Mr. and Mrs. Grannes, 5530 France. One member has
been obtained for the East Palmer Committee who is Mr. Don Holthus,
7243 Morgan Avenue North.
A meeting of the-Northport Committee has been scheduled for Wednes-
day, January 19, at which Lime the dace for the Northport Park
public meeting will be determined.
..he Director next presented the plans for -the development: of Elm
Creek Park as proposes' by the Hennepin County Park District. -
park is located approximately three miles northwest of Osseo and
consists of 5500 acres. Development plans include, but are not
limited co,the construction of a four-acre swimming lake and a
large picnic area. L;-t,VICOAT assistance is being applied for and it
is the in`cencion of the County.Park Boars' to obtain support of the
plan from local communities which will in turn aid in securing
Iz ,LICO2T funds.

A discussion followed wherein it was 'the consensus of the Commission
to support the efforts of the County Park Boars.
