HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971 11-10 PRMMinutes of the proceeding of the Park and Recreation Commission of the CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER in the COUNTY OF HENNEPIN and the STA`xE OF MINNESOTA November 10, 1971 The Park and Recreation Commission met in regular session and was called to order by Chairman, Don Reichel at 7:45 P.M. Members present were Don Reichel Earl Larsen, Ruth Lind, and Bruce Morrow. Also present were Councilman-elect Maurice Britts, Gene Hagel, and Doug Bryant. Absent were Henrietta Anderson, Wayne Finley, and Ron Coop. The minutes of the previous meeting of October 13,1971 were approved as recorded. The first item on the agenda was a discussion of the Neighborhood Park Study. °_he Director presented a proposed outline for proceeding with the study. Discussion followed regarding ad hoc commit`%- organization, function of the committee, the public meeting, specific information co be obtained at the meeting, summarzing, etc. Following discussion a motion was made by Earl Larsen and seconded by Bruce Morrow to make plans to proceed with the study in January as outlined and to determine at the December meeting which parks to select for the pilot study. The motion was carried.* The Commission next discussed attendance at the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association Annual Fall conference at Rochester, December 1, 2, and 3rd. The Conference program has scheduled sessions and a dinner for Commissioners on Wednesday, December lst. After discussion a motion was made by Ruth Lind and seconded by Earl Larsen to request, expenses for Commissioners Don Reichel and Ruth Lind to attend the session on December 1st. Expenses will include $9.75 each for registration plus lunch and dinner and mileage. Total cost for each is estimated at $17.75 plus mileage. The motion was carried. Several Commissioners next commented on their observations regarding the Community Center operation. Suggestions were noted and will be conveyed to the staff. Commissioners were reminded that the December meeting agenda will include a review of Council Resolution #71-15 authorizing snowmobilin. operations in city parks, and election of officers. The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 P.M.
