HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970 08-05 PRM• Minutes of the proceedings of the Park and Recreation Commission of the CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER in the COUNTY OF HENNEPIN and the STATE OF MINNESOTA August 5, 1970 i The Park and Recreation Commission met in special session and was called to order by Chairman Don Reichel at 7:30 P.M. Members present were Don Reichel, Henrietta Anderson, Earl Larsen, and Ruth Lind. Also present were Gene Hagel and Arnie Mavis. The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the proposed 1971 Park and Recreation budget. During dis- cussion of the budget concern was expressed regarding the extent of leadership and supervision at the play- grounds. It was the consensus that playgrounds should not be left unattended for long periods of time, espec- ially afternoons and at areas where there are wading pools. It was agreed to ammend the proposed budget to provide supervision at eight playgrounds in the afternoon and two in the forenoon. The board next discussed the alternatives for hiding the well at Evergreen Park. The two alternatives suggested are installation of a chain link fence or construction of a building. It was a strong consensus that a building would be preferable to chain link fencing. It was further agreed that the building should be of architectural design similar to the proposed shelter building. After further discussion a motion was made by Henrietta Anderson and seconded by Earl Larson to recommend that a building be built to house well #7 in Evergreen Park with the Park and Recreation Commission having the opportunity to review building plans. The motion was carried. The meeting was ajourned at 10:15 P.M. 6
