HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970 04-08 PRMMinutes of the proceedings of the Park and Recreation Commission of the CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER in the COUNTY OF HENNEPIN and the STATE OF MINNESOTA April 8, 1970 The Park and Recreation Commission met in regular session and was called to order by Chairman Don Reichel at 7:30 P.M. Members present were Don Reichel, Henrietta Anderson, Ruth Lind, Bruce Morrow, and Warren Olson. Also present were Eugene Bagel and Arnie Mavis. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as recorded. The first portion of the meeting consisted of a general discussion of recreation programming in the schools. A school use schedule was distributed showing the extent of use by the Park and Recreation Department. The in- creased use of Brooklyn Junior High School was particu- larly noted. The Community School agreement with Osseo District #279 was also discussed as was the possible extension of this concept to the Robbinsdale and Brooklyn Center Districts. Increased use of Evergreen School is also anticipated for the coming year. The next item was a discussion of proposed developments for Freeway Park. After opening remarks by Councilman Ted Willard the Park Director presented a plan for devel- opment of the park and a tentative time-table for com- pletion of various improvements. Plans for a supervised programming of the park this summer were also discussed. A question and answer period followed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
