dules were also discussed. A general discussion of
construction and operation of Community Centers and
Swimming Pools followed.
The Director submitted for discussion a proposal
for the formation of a city-wide Teen Advisory Board.
The purpose of the Teen Advisory Board would be to
work with the professional staff in planning, coor-
dinating, and advising activities for teens. This
would pertain to city-wide programs as well as
those proposed for the new center. It is proposed
that appointments to the Teen Advisory Board be
made on a school disirict basis possibly on the
recommendation of the school principal. It is
further suggested that the Teen Advisory Board be
created by ordinance, with appointments to be made
by the Mayor and Council. The Park and Recreation
Board concurred with the proposal and requested
the staff to further pursue the matter.
A proposal for re-structuring and re-classifying
of positions within the Park and Recreation Depart-
ment was discussed. No official action was taken.
Assistant Director Ray Ecklund reviewed the Winter
Program with the Board, noting changes and additions
that had been made. This was followed by a slide
