Park and Recreation Commission of the
City of Brooklyn Center in the County
of Hennepin and the State of Minnesota
May 24, 1967
The Park and Recreation Commission met in regular session and was
called to order by Paul Bullen, Chairman, at 7:30 p.m.
Members present were Paul Bullen, Frank Irvin, Ruth Lind and Don
Reichel. Also present were Eugene Bagel and Raymond Ecklund.
Members absent were Orlin Braun, Les Hagen and Bruce Morrow.
The minutes of the previous meeting of March 29, 1967, were approved
as recorded.
Ruth Lind and Frank Irvin reported on the status of the Swimming
Pool-Community Center report, stating that the report had been
submitted to the C.I.R.B. and was undergoing further study by that
group.
The plan for the location and development of Central Park as
proposed by Brauer and Associates was presented and discussed.
Motion made by Don Reichel that the Board approve the plan and to
recommend its approval by the City Council. Motion carried.
Assistant Director Ray Ecklund reported on the proposed summer
program, noting the ne`a activities being added this year. These
include teen drama, synchronized swimming, activities for the
physically handicapped, adult eve golf and youth hosteling.
Director Gene Bagel reported on land acquisition progress and
current imporvements being made in the parks.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
