Park and Recreation Commission of the
Village of Brooklyn Center in the County
of Hennepin and the State of Minnesota
September 28, 1966
The Park and Recreation Commission met in regular session and was
called to order by Paul Bullen, chairman, at 7:30 P.M.
Roll call: Present were Paul Bullen, Orlin Braun, Leslie Hagen,
Frank Irvin, Ruth Lind, and Bruce Morrow. Also present were
12ugene Hagel and Ray Ecklund. Member absent was Gerald Gilbertson.
The minutes of the previous meeting of June 15, 1966, were approved
as recorded.
Mr. Gordon Erickson, Chairman of the Capital Improvements Review
Board, outlined the procedures to be followed with regard to
reports by the various task forces and explained the rating eystem
to be used in the work of the Board. Discussion followed.
• The Swimming Pool-Recreation Center Committee reviewed its study to
date and discussed its findings with Commission Members. The
Committee will begin soon to work with a Director from the C.I.R.B.
in putting the findings and recommendations in report form.
The Director reported on progress of construction and improvements
in the parks. The Assistant Director reported on progress in
recreation programming.
Copies of the budget for 1967 were distributed.
Land acquisition and capital improvements were discussed. The
Director well be preparing a memorandum outlining the recommendations
for the coming year.
It was agreed to change the regular meeting day to the 4th Wednesday
of the month.
The ordinance proposal which would regulate the presence of persons
in the parks during late hours was discussed. No action was taken.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:55 P.M.
