RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING
May 26, 1964
MINUTES
The regular meeting of the Brooklyn Center Recreation Commission was
held at the Village Hall at 8;00 P.M., Tuesday, May 26, 1964. Members
present were john Vifingard, Gerald Gilbertson, Prank Irving Polly Hartin
and John Leary.
The minutes of the regular meeting of March 24, 1964, were approved as
recorded.
The Director and Assistant Director reported on plans for the Summer Prgram,
noting the addition of the following activities:
Bowling for 5th and 6th graders. Bus transportation, shoes and
instruction will be provided.
An adventure trip to Bambi Land at St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin
Expanded teen activities to include dances, golf, bowling, softball,
volleyball, trips, activity nights etc.
Outdoor concerts in the Park by the Civic Band and Civic Chorus.
A petition requesting recreation facilities and program supervision in the
area of Brooklyn Center High School was received. The petition contained
128 signatures of residents living north of Highway 100.
The proposed budget €c t 1965 was presented and discussed. Motion made
by Frank Irvin and seconded by Gerald Gilbertson to accept the budget as
presented and recommend its approval. Motion carried.
After a discussion of Park and Recreation problems and procedures with
Mr. Carl Chapman from Brooklyn Park, the meeting was 'adjourned.
