HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964 03-24 RECM0 • 0 VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING March 24, 1964 MINUTES The regular meeting of the Brooklyn Center Recreation commission was hold at the Village Hall at 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 24,1964. Members present were John Wingard, Gerald Gilbertson, Leslie Hagen, and Francis Irvin. The minutes of the regular meeting of January 28, and the joint meeting of February 2% 1964, were approved as recorded. Changes and additions in the coming Summer program were noted as follows : Orchard Lane playground will increase from two afternoons-a- week to a regular five afternoons-a-week supervised play area. Brooklane and East Palmer will be served by the same leaders on alternate days. It was agreed to proceed with the teen programs and to hire a person to organize and promote teen activities during the summer. The Recreation Program for Retarded Children will be continued this summer. The Mrs. Jaycees have offered to provide transportation and volunteer leadership. Discussion followed regarding starting a summer bowling program in cooperation with Lynbrook Bowl. Motion made by Gerald Gilbertson and seconded by Francis Irvin to proceed with the program as out- lined. Motion carried. The policy regarding the use of ball diamonds by local leagues and the Y.M.C.A. was reviewed. No official action was taken. It was reported that a "golf practice" night at Fair Oaks School gym is being organized and a new "Weight Watchers" group is contemplated. The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
