HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961 02-28 RECM0 0 VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER RECREATION COMAtISS ION MEETING February 28, 1961 MINUTES The regular monthly meeting of the Brooklyn Center Recreation Commission was held at the Village Hall at 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 28, 1961. Members present were Les Hagen, Frank Irvin, Eleanor Houser, Janet Johnson, Bruce Morrow, and John Wingard. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as recorded. The Director reported that the Annual Progress Report of the Recreation Commission has been completed and will be mimeographed for distribution by the next meeting. Preliminary plans for some phases of the summer program were discussed as follows: Bob Roy has been hired as Summer Program Supervisor. The Main Beach at Lake Calhoun will be requested as the site for the learn- to-swim program. The first organizational meeting for softball leagues will be held March 21. Day Camping will contiune the same as last year. Playground programs will be added at Kyle Park and at Southeast Park if grading and improvements can be completed in time. The Annual District Marbles Tournament involving eight communities will be held at Garden City School on March 22. Park improvement plans for the year were reported and discussed. The Annual election of officers was held. Les Hagen was reelected Pre- sident, Frank Irvin was reelected Vice-President, and Janet Johnson was elected Secretary. The meeting was adjourned.
