The regular monthly meeting of the Brooklyn Center Recreation Commission was
held at the Village Hall at 8:40 P.M., Tuesday. Novater 22. 1900.
Mfrs present were Les Nagen, Bruce Morrow, Eleanor Hauser and prank Irvin.
The minutes of the previous meting erere approvsd as recorded.
The Superintendent 0000e4ted briefly on the winter program. stating that a
Figure Skating Instructor from the too Center in Golden Valley has bean hired
to teach Figure Skating sit billow Lane and Gordon City Parka; basketball for
Junior and Senior High bays has been extended to Northport and Millort Lane
schools, and about 4500 copies of the Winter Program schedule will be dis-
tributed tbrough the schools.
The Superintendent also gave a mart an the Annual !Meeting of the Minnesota
Recreation Association whieb was held in Minneapolis November 3 and 4.
Mrs. Houser was ocalsated to serve its delegate to the Suburban Recreation
Assftiation for 1961. Bruce Narrow was named as sliornate.
Messrs. Weil Ckemgagne. Jerry Herber and John Wink smart, representing the
heir's Club of St. Alphousas CAurab, appeared before the Commission to request
help it starting a boys' bsskotball program at &or en City School.. Mr. Champagne
stated that there are approximately 600 boys In the parish eligible to parti-
cipate and that W9Q% of the bolts live in Brooklyn Center. The 60. Tth and
8th grade boys who participate would compete to the, Knights of Columbus League
which at present includes twenty churches in the ekes. The church men's Club
will provide all leadership, supervision. aid'eglpmeut necessary for the pro-
gram. The Osseo School Board ben requested that the Brooklyn Center Recreation
Commisslon give official saaetion to the program In order for it to qualify
for use of the school on a resat-free basis.
Notion made by Mrs. Houser and seconded by Bruce Morrow to endorse the program
as outlined and to maM available the influence and resources of the Recreation
Commission as will contribute to the success of the program. Notion carried.
Member Frank Irvin abstained from voting.
The meeting was adjourned.
