The regular meeting of the Btrooklvn Center Recreation Commission was held at
the village hall. at 8tOO P.M., Tue--day, dune 2$' 1960,, Members present were
Frank Irvin, John Wingard, Bruce Korrou and Janet Johnson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as recorded.
A report on mummer activities was: ggiven as follows:
Playgrounds opened on Tuesday, June 22, with large numbers of children
attending. :Exact registration ti ures will be available at the next
meeting. Tee Shirt baseball has2 teams and over 600 boys taking part.
Approximately 75 girls are registered for girls softball. Archery instruction
classes were postponed and registrations are drawn due to the weather. Creative
and Modern dancing, for girls has 149 registered to date. Sixty nine girls are
taking Baton and Acrobatic instructions. The first Teem Age Dance of the season
had an attendance of nearly 200. Swiwdmg instruction classes are filled with
nearly 500 boys and girls registered. Day Camping sessions are filled with 2%
registered. Seventeen adults are gegi.stered for golf instruction, and 15 men
are participating in horseshoe. One hundred seventy si.x men and women are
participating in the adult softball leagues and 25 men and women are taking an
active part in the Senior Citizens Club.
Preliminary figures indicate approximately 3000 morn, women and children area
taking part in the m r Recreation program.
The part-time summer staff in the Park ahd Recreation Department totals 40
people. This includes playground and baseball personnel, specialist ins-
tructors, umpires, bus drivers, and part-time maintenance.
It was announced that a $250.00 increase has been requested for the R.ed. Feather
budget for next year, and 4:257.07 has been transferred into -Lhe Veen Activities
account from the community council account.
It was suggested that music activity, baseball for the 13, 14 and 15 year olds,
and swimming instruction for adults be added to the progrwa next year.
Motion made,by IiYancis Irvin and seconded by Bruce ho row to authorize member-
shin in the Amea^i can Recreation Society. The member ship fee is 48.

After a discussion and re-port of Park Board progress and plans the meeting was
adjourned o
