RECrEATTON COOUSSION MEETING

The regular month3,v meeting of the Brooklyn Center Recreation Commission
vias held at the Village Hall at 8:OOP.M,$ Tuesday, April 26, 19600
Members present were Eleanor Houser, Janet Johnson, John Wingard, and
Deuce Morrow.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as recorded.
The discussion of the Summer Program plan was continued as follows.
Calf
Instruction Classes for persons 15 years and over will be held again
this year at the triangle. Classes will meet twice a week for four weeks.
I%qo classes will be scheduled.
Jxchery Instruction will continue on the same basis as last year with one
new location being added. Classes will be held at Garden City Park for the
first time this year. An adult class will also be scheduled at the Triangle.

" ainoncso 'the+Men°s S ow Pitch league has doubled in team entries over last
gear with eight teams entered to date. The Women's league has four teams at
present with possibilities of two more.
`e® _ Shirt Baseball is expected to attract 700 boys this year. One new area
_s added for baseball instruction at Kyle Park. An attempt is being
made to schedule all baseball activity in the forenoons so that more emphasis
can be put on playground activities in the'afternoonsti
Creative, and Modern Dance sessions for girls has been cleared idth school
.ficials and will. be held in Earle Brown, Northport, Garden City, and
Willowl,ane Schools.

-Bounds will operate as follows:
Earle Brown and Northport: Full day
Benson: Mornings only
Garden City, Rice, Willow Lanes Afternoons only
The playground program will begin June 20, and will close August 12.
Program expansion for 1961 was discussed. It was suggested that a
playground and baseball program be planned for Southeast Park, and that
dirt Classes for youngsters be held in the parks next summer.
It was announced that a meeting of the Brooklyn Center Community Council
gill be held Wednesday,* May 18, at the old Village Hall. The meeting will be to
discuss the Suburban Recreation Association and its fled Feather activities,, the
1961 Community Council budget, and the 1961 Red Feather programo
After a report of Park Board activities and progresis the meeting was
adjourned.
