The regular monthly meeting of the Brooklyn Center Recreation Commission was
held at the Village Ball at 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 23, 1960, Members
present were Les Bapen, Frank Irvin, heanor Houser, Ja;set 4ohns6n, Bruce
Morrow and John Wingard.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as recorded.
The Superi atendent. reported on Summer Program plans as follows:
Swimming Instruction Classes will be held at Lake Calhoun for six weeks,
This year's session will accommodate an expected enrollment of 800 children,
an increase of 200 over lost year.
Day Camping will be held at Morris T. Baker County Park for four weeks,
sponsored by the Suburban Recreation Association. The program will.aecommodate
240 boys and secs.
Men's Slow-Fitch Softball Leakue is expected to reach eight teams this year.
Your teams entered the league iust year. The season's first organizational
meetiz4S is scheduled for March 30. A W mente League will also be organized.
Creative Dancidi • for i i rks was disouseed. The' board agreed. to add this'
activity to the bummer program if details regarding i s#uctor, cost, and
locations ao%ld be worked out. .
Teen Age Dances, will be continued through the ma ber months on a limited
scale. It was agreed to schedule dances onos a *oath through June, July and
August-at Earle Browa School.
The salary scale for summer employees was rQViswed as *illowa:
Swtming Instructors $2.00 per hour
Playground Directors - 685 2900 per hour
Sports Super vis op 2.20 per hour
Grafts Sbpervisor , - 1.77 ~ Per hour
Motion made by, Frank Irvin and seconded by.blesnor 4ouserr recommending the
purchase of eight rubber )%*me plates and pne .lim marker at an estimated
cost of $200.00 to be psi d from Recreation reeaeipts. Matim oarried.
The Board agreed to chawq. the regular nestirg 1o the fourth Tuesday of
the month, '8:00 P.M.
The meeting was adjourned.
