pear h'r . Nagel:
in the course of preparing an article we plan to
ublish dealing 4th the importance of providing
fo= community recreation n?edsi officials of the
National. Recreation Association have told me of
Brooklyn Center's park acquisition and development
program. It sounds like the kind of forward-look
ing undertaking we would like to tell our readers
about.
Would you be pod enough to send me as much infor-
mation as you can about your project?
We would be particularly interested in knowing the
circumstances that led to recognition of the need
for such a progrm in the first place, how the oam.
munity went about appraising its needs, what cit-
izens or groups provided the leadership that result-
ed in passage of the 1957 bond issue, the extent
of progress thus far in carrying out the plans, and
your own personal observations on the inpact of,
the program on comwiity life.
Although that may sound like a rather large order,
perhaps moat of the information would be covered
in Park Board reports, newspaper accounts or other
readily accessible forms. If that is the case, we
would appreciate seeing any such material ad would
be happy to return it to you if you wish.
