MINUTES
The regular monthly meeting of the Brooklyn Center Recreation Commission
was held at the Village Hall, 8xOO P.M., Wednesday, February 26, 1958.
Members present were Bruce Morrow, Frank Irvin, John Wingard and Clifford
Wellman. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as readb
The superIntendent reported that figure skating i.ustruotica had ended
recommended expansion of the program for next years The basketball
program will and February 28 with about 150 boys having participated
during the eight weeks program. Hockey had gotten off to a slow start
but had gained interest and momentum by the end of the season with
three bantam teams. A marble tourney is being co-sponsored with the
Suburban Recreation Association at Earle Brown, Northport, and Willow
Lane Schools. Another successful teen-age dance has been held on
February 15 at Northport School,
It was announced that covmnity council meeting had been held and that
the eom unity council had agreed to use S.RJ6 funds to conduct a sumrexr
day camps
The summer baseball program was discussed. It was reported that there
is a growing interest in little league and that a meeting of persons
interested in boys' baseball is scheduled for the near future. The
board agreed to cooperate with little league in establishing a well-
rounded,, comprehensive baseball program.
Motion by Wingard, seconded by Irvin, that the superintendent be allowed
expenses to attend the Great Lakes District Recreation Conference in
Milwaukee Maroh 24, 25, 26. Motion carried.
