The regular monthly neetiiig of the Brooklyn Center Recreation Commission was held
a" the Village Hall, 5:00 PAM., Wednesday, October 2, 1957. Ths4bers present were

The super intendant reported as follows:
'moo meetings have bson held with representatives of the JUnior Chamber of
Oo=aeroe and the Mrs. Jaycees to make plans for organizing a Teen-age Club
in Brooklyn Center. 'The club will be sponsored by these' two organizations
In cooperation with the Recreation Commissichi. Subsequent meetings with
teen-age representatives have been scheduled for the near future.
P.T.A. groups have been contacted and it is hoped that arrangements
may be made to oo-sponsor activities wfth thus groups. *illow Une
P.T.A. has accepted the help of the Recreation Cormission in organizing
a square dance club at Willow Lane Saho*1
The first village sponsored boys' football program was begun in
September. A series of alinios was held with approximately fifty
boys attending eaoh session. Upon oompletion of the clinics, boys
were registered for play with parents consent, and two teams have,
been organized. Volunteer cosohe s ase working with the teems and
sm informal series of gams is being. played. Plans were discussed
to expand this program to other parts of the village beat year.
Suburban Re.oreation Association football clinics have been sohedulead
at Willow Lae and Benson: Schools. Approximately fifty boys attended
the clinic at Willow Lane. The Clinic at Bbnson School in scheduled
for this co ring Saturday, October S.
The number and lcoation of skating rinks wean recomended by the Park
Board. Rinks will be located at 67th and Lyndale, two at Earley Brown.
School, Northport- School, Willow Lane Schbol; 72nd and Lyndale, and
62nd and Prance
The Village Council approved the Recreation Commission budget for
412,300.00 for 1958. 2500.00 will be received from the Park fUnd
and x$1250.00 from the S„ R.A., making a total budget of 416,050.
Me Board agreed that a. charge should be made for figure slmting instruction.
Representatives from Brooklyn Park were present to inquiry, about the organization
axd operation of the Brooklyn Canter Recreation Commission. Suggestion* for
atarting a. recreation program_ in Brooklym Perk were presented and discussed.
