The regular monthly meeting of the Brooklyn Center Recreation Com=
mission was held at the Village Ball, 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 2, 1957
Members present were Leslie Hagen, Bruce Morrow, John Wingard, Frank
Irvin, and Clifford Wellman.
The superintendent reported that a record number of children are
participating in summer recreation activities. 775 youngsters have re-
gistered on playgrounds, 216 boys signed up for Tee Shirt baseball, and
91 girls are taking baton instruction. A full bus-load of 70 boys and
girls attended the Day Camp at lake Independence, and attendance at
T!`d'ebber Pool on Wednesday mornings was over 400.
It i as agreed that nex-d every effort should be grade to secure
additional pool facilities in order to provide swim instruction on an
organized class basis.
The addition of one part-time playground leader to the summer staff
was reported. This was made necessary by the large number of children
turning out for activities at Earle Rrown Playground.
The Recreation. Commission budget request for 1958 was discussed.
This should be ready to submit to the Village Council by September 1,
and will be discussed in detail at the !august meeting of the Board.
