of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the
Countv of Hennepin and State of Minnesota
December 2, 1965
The Park Board met in regular session and was called to order by
Paul Sullen, Chairman, at 2%30 P.M.
Roll call: Paul Sullen and Francis Irvin were present.
The minutes of the previous meeting of October 27, 1965, were
approved as recorded.
The Director reported on the meeting held with the Department of
Conservation regarding public access to the Mississippi River.
Members of the Board are in agreement with the establishment of
this area as proposed and urged that we continue to work toward
this as a public recreation area.
Durnam Island was discussed as a possible recreation area. Motion
made by Francis Irvin and seconded by Paul Sullen to check on
ownership and explore the possibilities of acquiri the island
for park and recreation purposes.
Information regarding a sign machine and a poster machine was
presented. It was agreed to wait until the new year before
taking any action.
It was agreed to try and sell the popcorn vending machine. The
Director was instructed to obtain prices and report to the Board.
It was reported that application is being made for a Federal
grant to assist in acquiring property at 55th and Dupont and
the Elsen property at 69th and Palmer Lake.
The meeting was adjourned at 3%45 P.M.
