Minutes of the Proceedings of the Park Board
of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the
Countv of HanneRin %nd State of Minnesota
March 4, 1964
The Park Board met in regular session and was called to order
by Paul Bullen, Chairman, at 3:45 P. M.
Roll Call: Paul Bullen, Francis Irvin, and Janet Johnson
were present.
The minutes of the regular meeting of February 3, 1964, and the
Joint bleating with the Recreation Commission of February 25, 1964,
were approved as recorded.
Mr. Lee was present to discuss the proposed Library site with
regard to the relocation of Northport Drive and possible future
parking requirements. After discussion, a motion was made by
Francis Irvin and seconded by Janet Johnson to approve in general
the plan as presente4 but to recommend that construction of the
parking lot south of Northport Drive be delayed until proven
essential to the operation of the Library. Motion carried.
The agreement with the Babe Ruth League for the use of the
diamond at Grandview Park, and the agreement with the National
Little League for the use of the diamond at Garden City Park,
was approved and signed.
Mr. Hodne presented sketches, a model, and preliminary cost
estimates for the proposed shelters at Bellvue and Kylawn Parks.
After discussion, a motion was made by Francis Irvin and seconded
by Janet Johnson to authorize the architect to proceed with
working drawings and cost estimates for the Boards further
review. Motion carried.
Member Francis Irvin introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS FOR
TRACTOR AND MOWER AND DIRECTING
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
BE IT RESOLVED by the Park Board of the Village of Brooklyn
Center, Minnesota as follows:
1. It is hereby determined that it is necessary and in the
best interests of the Village that maintenance equipment
be purchased.

2. The specifications for the equipment as prepared by the
Director of Parks are hereby approved.
3. Advertisement for bids for the equipment shall be
published in the Brooklyn Center Press, the date of
publication not less than ten (10) days prior to the
date for receipt of bids.

4. The deadline for receiving bids shall be 2:00 P.M.
Monday, April 6, 1964, at which time bids shall be
opened by the Village Administrator and the Director
of Parks.
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Janet
Johnson and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted
in favor thereof: Paul Bullen, Janet Johnson and Francis Irvin;
and the following voted against the same: none; whereupon said
resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 P.M.
