HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961 05-01 PKBDMMinutes of the proceeding of the Park Board of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin State of Minnesota. May 1, 1961 The Park Board met in regular session and was called to order by Paul Bullen, Chairman, at 7:30 P.M. Roll Call: Paul Bullen, Frank Irvin, and Dallas Lawrence were present. The minutes of the regular meeting of April 3, 1961 were approved as recorded. Preliminary plans for the shelter building to be consturcted at the Triangle were presented by Robert Corwin e. No official action was taken. A petition from the property owners in the vicinity of the park at 65th and Perry was accepted. The Director reported on a meeting held with a committee from the neighborhood. They are very anxious to have the park developed and will be submitting another petition with additional names in the near future. It was agreed that the Babe Ruth League be allowed to have base- ball games on Sunday afternoons at the Triangle. The Director reported as follows: Cleaning and grading of the south end of Southeast Park has been completed and several trees have been transplanted. The north end, including relocation of the skating rink and warming house, will be completed this summer. The maintenance crew is presently planting 250 shade trees in the parks. Fifty evergreens plus some from Palmer are yet to be planted. Several requests for fencing at Willow Lane Park have been received. Men and boys from the Babe Ruth League will sod the baseball diamond at the Triangle this Saturday. The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P.M. ca'_'s 0) ~ Chairman 9 Secretary 1
