November 2, 1959
The Park Board met in regular session and was called to order by Paul Bullen,
Chairman, at 7:309 P.M.
Roll Call: Paul Bullen and Dallas Lawrence were present. Francis Irvin was
absent.
The minutes of the regular meeting of October 5, 1959 were approved as recorded.
Motion made by Dabs Lawrence and seconded by Paul Bullen to install a lighting
system for hockey and general skating at Willow Lane Park, at an estimated total
cost of $2000.00, to be paid from the Bond Fund. Motion carried.
Motion made by Dallas Lawrence and seconded by Paul Bullen to purchase a Public
Address System for-Northport Park at a cost of x-250.00, to be paid from concession
profits. Motion carried.
Nbtion made by Paul Bullen and seconded by Dallas Lawrence to purchase one Radiant
Heating unit for the warming house at 72nd and Riverdale, at a cost of 144.95 to
be paid from the Park General Fund. Motion carried.
Motion made by Dallas Lawrence and seconded by Paul Bullen that (1) the Superintendent
determine the number and size of "SLOW - PLAYGROUND" signs needed for traffic control
near playgrounds, and (2).that the Park Board recommend the purchase of these signs
by the Village Council. Motion carried.
The Superintendent reported that Dundee Nursery has replaced ninteen sugar maple
trees in Rice, Northport, and Garden City Parks at no charge.
The Board agreed to inspect the grading at Kyle and Willow Lane Parks before
authorizing final payment.
The Board reviewed the proposed plat for Palmer Lake Terrace 5th Addition. No
official action was taken.
The lease for Lot 7, Block 1, Sunrise Manor, located at 67th and France Avenue
North for the purpose of operating a skating rink, was approved and signed.
It was reported that coin operated telephones are being installed in the shelter
buildings at Earle Brawn, Northport, and Garden City Parks.
It was also reported that the twenty-six park benches, purchased by the Brooklyn
Lions Club, have been delivered.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
