HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959 02-02 PKBDMF, Minutes of the proceeding of the Park Board of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota February 2, 1959 The Park Board met in regular session and was called to order by Paul Bullen, Chairman, at 7:30 P.M. Roll Call: Paul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Francis Irvin were present. Minutes of the regular meeting of January 9, 1959, and the special meeting of January 13, 1959, were approved as recorded. Member Francis Irvin introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR 'MATER SYSTEM AND DIRECTING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS BE IT RESOLVED by the Park Board of the Village of Brooklyn Center as follow8: 1. It is hereby determined that it is necessary and for the best interest of the Village that a water system be installed in Garden City Park. 2. The plans and specifications for said water system, calling for hook-up to Village water in Garden City Park, as prepared by Landscape Architect Robert G. Corwine are hereby approved. 3. Advertisement for bids for said water system shall be published in the Brooklyn Center Press, the date of publication not less than ten (10) days prior to the date for receipt of bids. 4. The deadline for receiving bids shall be 3:3' P.M. Monday, March 2, 1959 at which time bids shall be opened by the Village Administrator, the Landscape Architect, and the Superintendent of Parks. The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Dallas Lawrence and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Paul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Francis Irvin; and the following voted against the same: None; 'Wh.ere- upon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Dallas Lawrence introduced the follml" resolution and moved its adoptions RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR ELECTRICAL "MRN AND DIRECTING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS BE IT RESOLVED by the Park Board of the Village of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. It is hereby determined that it is necessary and for the best interest of the Village that electrical words be done in Garden City, Northport and Rice Parks. 2, The plans and specifications for said electrical work prepared by Landsoape Architect Robert G. Corwin are hereby approved as altered. 3. Advertisement for bids for said electrical work shall be published in the Brooklyn Center Press, the date,of publication not less than ten (10) days prior to the date for receipt of bids. 4, The deadline for receiving bids shall be 3:30 P.M. Monday March 20 1959 at which time bids shall be opened by the Village Administrator, the Landscape Architect, and the Superintendent of Parks: 2'7'7 2'79 1 February 2, 1959 Psge 2 The foregoing rosolution was duly seconded by member Francis Irvin, and upon vo-'e being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Paul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Francis Irvin; and the following voted against the same: None; Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. It was agreed to proceed with heating alterations in the shelter buildings as recommended by the Village juilding In- spector and the Fire Marshall. The preliminary plan for the development of Willow Lane Park was reviewed and suggestions noted. Action was deferred pending a meeting with the Osseo Sohhol Board on February 100 1959. It was agreed to request quotations for hauling 400 cubic yards of clay on the ball diamonds in Garden City Park. It was agreed to purchase guard rails for the bleachers in Triangle Park as recommended by the insurance company. It was agreed to obtain a registered land survey of Northport Park property in order to facilitate the sale of building lots. The meeting was adjouned at 11:15 P.M. Chairman Secretary
