HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958 10-27 PKBDMMinutes of the proceeding of the Park Board of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota October 27, 1958 The Park Board met in special session and was called to order by Paul Bullen, Chairman, at 8:00 P.M. Roll Call: Paul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Francis Irvin were present. Minutes of the special meetings of September 22, 1958, and October 13, 1958 were approved as recorded. Member Dallas Lawrence introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION REJECTING BIDS FCR GRADING AND TOP SOILING AND DIRECTING RE-ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Parks has reported that on October 27, 19588 at 3:30 P.M., he, together with the Village Administrator and the Landscape Architect, opened and tab- ulated the bids received for grading and top soiling in Northport and Rice Parks, and that said bids were as follows: Veit and Company 29,885800 Peterson Bros. 370600,00 Park Construction Co. 40,626.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Park Board of the Village of Brooklyn Center as followst 1, It is hereby determined that it is for the best interest of the Village that all bids be rejected, 2. Re-advertisement for bids for said work shall be published in the Brooklyn Center Press, the date of publication not less than ten (10) days prior to the date for receipt of bids, 3, The deadline for receiving bids shall be 3:30 P.M., Monday, December 15, 19589 at Ybich time bids shall be opened by the Village Administrator, the Lanscape Architect, and the Super- intendent of Parks, The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Francis Irvin, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereofr Paul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Francis Irvin; and the following voted against the sam: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Member Dallas Lawrence introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: f RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF CERTAIN LAND FOR PARK PURPOSES BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PARK BOARD OF THE VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER AS FOLLOWS: 1. It is hereby determined that the acquistion of the land here- after described for park purposes is necessary and in the public interests, 2, The officers of the Park Board are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract of purchase for such land, such agreement to include the following: A. Legal Descriptions That p- t of Lot 14, Auditors' Subdivision No. 57, described as follows; Beginning at the Northeast corner of said Lot 14, thence South 290 feet, thence West and parallel to the South line of Lot 14 366 feet, thence North 125 feet, thence Northeasterly to a point on the North line of Lot 14 distant 220 feet East of the Northwest corner thereof, thence East 308 feet to point of beginning. Section 28, Township 119, Range 21, Hennepin County, Minnesota B. Owners t John A. Hokanson Adeline Hokanson 4820 - 69th Avenue North C. Prices Six thousand three hundred dollars ($6,300.00) D. Price includes building located on Said property. E. Date of closings On or about Deoenber 15, 1958 F. Date of PosseSsions On or about December 15, 1958 G. Said agreement shall provide that the owner will provide a warranty deed to said property, 3. The officers of the Park Board are hereby authorized and directed to complete said purchase according to the terms of said agreement. The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Francis Irvin and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Pa=ul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Francis Irvin; and the following voted against the saws: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion made by Francis Irvin and seconded by Dallas Lawrence that funds up to fifty dollars ($50.00) be authorized for the purchase of a two whejl trailer. Motion carried, Member Francis Irvin introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption, RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR SHELTER BUILDING AND DIRECTING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS BE IT RESOLVED by the Park Board of the Village of Brooklyn Center as follows 1. It is hereby determined that it is necessary and for the best interest of the Village that shelter buildings be erected in Garden City, Northport, and Rice Parks. 2. The plans and specifications for said buildings prepared by Landscape Architect Robert G. Corwine are hereby approved* 39 Advertisement for bids for said buildings shall be published in the Brooklyn Center Press, and date of publication not less than ten (10) days prior to the date for receipt of bids, 49 The deadline for receiving bids shall be 3s30 P.M., Monday, December 1, 19680 at which time bids shall be opened by the Village Administrator, the Landscape Architect, and the Super- intendent of Parks* The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Dallas Lawrence, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Paul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Francis Irvin; and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion made by Dallas Lawrence and seconded by Francis Irvin that fencing of Southeast Park be included in the development thereof, and that the tree located on the property line at Lot 6, Block 3, Bellvue Acres be maintained by the Park Board.
